ive just whipped short tests of basic fast paced SLR shots placed into imovie with some war sound effects. what am i trying to achieve here????.......i want to start to develop an understanding of how i can use this technique. obviously its very jerky and there are no characters within the frame but its the dynamics, movement and the various colours, shades and flickering light....thats what i want to capture.  i need to slow things down.....smooth it out slightly and maybe build a rig that can move around the ground and in different directions to capture low framing images........i need to work on these ideas.

went for a walk looking for inspiration for set idea....or just anything towards my film. there is a logic to this blog even though at times it might not look like it. i want this blog to run like my mind does and grab ideas and just shove it on here as soon as they appear...my mind doesnt flow in a straight line so neither will this blog.

so i found this great site with a extremely run down old farm house that will work as a bombed ww2 building.....i want to know how to approach my set before i contine to develop my characters as i feel its integral to the whole creation. do i plonk a minature of this farm house or do i try to develop something different?????? maybe film the characters using green screen then insert either photos or filmed footage of the house????? again i feel this is important to work out so i can continue forward.....

JUST FOUND THIS.....reasons for this aniamtion is its technique. I want to develop this style and make it my own.

the light changes.......flickering images and lo-fi style

simple       loose      uninhibited  and scrutinised images that will develop and grow as i look into it further.

I saw this video for Flogging Molly's "Float" sometime back now. I loved how the settings mixed with the stop motion. I know that a lot of green screen and some CG was used but I want to use this as an influence towards my own project. The light and various contrasting colours of nature.

Images scanned from sketch book work showing the development of character ideas. I want to develop a simple design for the british soldiers showing little or no emotion. The images here progress from images collected from the internet to drawing.

So this is the start of my new blog for MA Animation. Having made the transition from MA Film I now need to look at my work in a new light and take it into a new direction. I had the intention of developing a live action WW2 black comedy based on a small squad of British soldiers who lose thier commanding officer to a German sniper. The captured German sniper is then haunted by the officer throught the film. This idea is something I now want to develop over the coming months for a stop motion animated short.

STORYBOARDS

I want to start by showing the initial idea I had when its was going to be a live action short. From here I can show the development from live action into stop motion animation.
